FAQ

  • Can you tell me more about the sustainability practices of your candles?

We are committed to using only the finest materials in our products. That's why we use premium virgin coconut soy wax, which provides a clean, luxurious, and long-lasting burn. We carefully select our wicks from FSC certified mills and use only ethically sourced fragrances and materials.

We take pride in sourcing our materials ethically, and are proud to offer vegan and non-toxic candles that you can feel good about using in your home. Additionally, our vessels are not only beautiful, but also recyclable and reusable, allowing you to enjoy them long after the candle has burned down.

We believe that every element of our candles should be of the highest quality, and we are dedicated to bringing you products that you can feel great about using.

  • What are the proper steps to care for my candle?

For the first burn of your candle, we recommend burning it for a minimum of 2 hours to ensure that the top layer of wax melts evenly. This helps prevent tunneling and ensures maximum burn time.

Before each use, be sure to trim the wick to 3mm-5mm using nail clippers, wick trimmers, or your fingers. This ensures a clean burn and reduces soot and smoke.

To ensure safe usage, never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Discontinue use when there is 1.5cm of wax remaining to prevent the container from overheating. When you're finished, you can wash the tin and reuse or recycle it.

  • What should I do if my wood wick keeps extinguishing?

In the event that your wood wick is having trouble staying lit, it may be due to an incorrect wick length. To ensure proper burning, it's important to trim the wick as needed.

Trimming the wick is easy and can be done using your fingers or a small tool such as a wick trimmer or nail clipper to remove the top burnt bits. Regularly trimming the wick to a length of 3mm-5mm helps promote a clean and efficient burn.

To ensure the best possible candle experience, we recommend checking and trimming your wick regularly. This will help keep your candle burning smoothly and prevent any potential issues.

  • What could be causing the flickering or dwindling of my flame?

If you notice your wood wick flickering, dwindling in size, or burning out, it's possible that the timber in the wick may have a "glitch." These issues may not always be visible, as each wood wick is unique.

In some cases, wood wicks may require a few attempts to get started. It's not uncommon to experience multiple relights, but once the wick is successfully lit, it should burn well. We've encountered instances where it took 4-5 tries to get the wick burning properly.

We strive to provide the highest quality wood wicks, but as with any natural material, there may be some variations in performance. If you encounter any issues with your wood wick, please don't hesitate to reach out to us for assistance. We're here to ensure that you have a great candle burning experience.

  • What steps can I take to prevent tunneling in my candle?

To achieve the best possible burn from your candle, it's important to allow the entire top layer of wax to melt during each burn. Extinguishing the flame before the wax has melted can cause tunneling, leaving a literal "tunnel" around the edge of the candle.

When tunneling occurs, a significant amount of wax is left unused, preventing your candle from achieving its maximum burn potential. Additionally, tunneling can make it more difficult to light the candle in the future.

To avoid tunneling and ensure that your candle burns evenly, we recommend burning it until the entire top layer of wax is liquid. This allows the wax to set evenly, without creating a tunnel around the edge of the candle. By following this simple step, you'll ensure a more enjoyable and efficient burn from your candle.

  • What should I do if my candle has tunneled?

If you've accidentally caused tunneling in your candle, don't worry – there's an easy fix! To correct the issue, you can create a foil wrap around the sides and top of the tin, then poke a hole to light the wick. This creates an "oven" inside the candle that helps melt down the wax around the edges.

To prevent tunneling from occurring in the future, it's important to burn your candle until the entire top layer of wax has melted during the first burn. This creates a "memory ring" that helps guide the wax to melt evenly during future burns.

Remember, even if your candle has tunneling, there's no need to panic – just follow these simple steps to correct the issue and get your candle burning evenly again.

  • I'd love to reuse my tins! How do I clean them?

We believe in the power of upcycling and reusing. If you've enjoyed one of our candles and want to give the tin a new life, we've got you covered!

To clean your tins properly, start by removing any excess wax from the inside of the jar. You can do this by placing the tin in low simmering water to melt the wax. Once melted, remove the wick and add a small amount of water to the tin to create a firm block of wax. Use a fork to remove the wax block, then wash the inside of the tin with soap and water.

If you'd like to remove any labeling from the tin, simply use a hairdryer to heat up the label and peel it off. With a little effort, you can transform your candle tin into a useful container for anything from pens to plants, and give it a whole new purpose!
